Sugarhouse BBQ is a great Apres Ski meal for several reasons. First, you can pick up, take out or have it delivered. Second, its a lot of food. Third, it's really good.
Sugarhouse BBQ is an authentic Memphis style barbeque place just off I-80 on 700 East. You don't come to this place for the atmosphere. Its just a small cafe but the food is immense in size and flavor.
Memphis Style Barbeque requires hand rubbing the raw ribs and the meat products with a special dry spice mixture and allowing these flavors to penetrate the meat for at least 24 hours. The meats are then slow cooked and smoked over hickory and other woods to achieve the "red ring" you see in every rib. Barbeque sauce is never used in cooking and is always served on the side. The texture of all of these meats is superb.
The entrees, called the Main Event on the menu, are all served with two sides and a slab of cornbread. The garlic potatoes, coleslaw, and chick-peas are really good. If you are starving after a day of hard skiing or snowboarding, these meals will definitely be able to satisfy your stomach. In fact, if you are hungry , but not starving, a couple can share one full slab of ribs and have plenty to eat.
The Sugarhouse BBQ Signature Memphis style dry rubbed ribs are truly great. The baby back ribs are smaller, but have no fat and the pulled pork is so good it makes you think fondly of this restaurant weeks after your last visit.
